Program Structure​

The Master in Tourism and Hospitality Management program at Eton University comprises of 6 comprehensive taught modules, each carefully curated to cover critical aspects of hospitality management, from marketing to international tourism policy. As a culmination of your academic journey, you will undertake a transformative capstone project, where you'll apply your acquired knowledge to solve real-world tourism and hospitality challenges.

Duration​

Our MA program offers you unparalleled flexibility in managing your academic journey. While the standard duration is approximately one year, Eton University understands that every student's learning pace varies. Thus, you have the freedom to decide how fast you want to study, giving you the liberty to complete the program sooner or later than the standard duration.

For an optimal study experience, we recommend enrolling in two modules per quarter, which leads to a program completion duration of five quarters (approximately 1.25 years). This structure allows for three quarters dedicated to the taught modules and two quarters devoted to the capstone project. For those seeking an accelerated path, taking a full load of three modules per quarter, an MA degree can be earned in just four quarters (1 year).

For entry onto the MA Tourism and Hospitality programme, learners must possess:

  • An honours degree in a related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification

  • Mature learners with management experience 

  • Learners must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course
     

English requirements: If a learner is not a national of an English-speaking country, they must provide evidence of English language competency* at a standard equivalent to the levels identified below, 

  • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2

  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51

  • IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5

*Candidates who do not have evidence of English competency can take an internal exam with Eton University which is offered in collaboration with Think English. This internal exam is offered to Eton University applicants at the exclusive rate of $45.

For taught modules, a variety of assignments and tasks will be used to support learning and assess the knowledge, such as essays, presentations, and multiple-choice questions. For the capstone project, students are required to choose a specific theme; an area of their interest within an educational context. They will research this topic then write a 12,000 word essay on it. The time expected to complete this stage is 2 quarters, however, flexible options are available.

To obtain MA Tourism and Hospitality degree candidates must fulfill the following requirements:   

  • a pass in all modules and a successful completion of 180 credits in total

2. Pay the registration and course fee for the OTHM Diploma in convenient installments.

3. Successfully complete the OTHM assessments.

4. Pay the graduation fee upon completion.

5. Celebrate your achievement as you receive your OTHM certificate— OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management

Study Workload

Integrating OTHM courses into your MA program does not increase your overall study workload. As both programs are compatible, you can seamlessly navigate through the curriculum. However, you should be prepared for an additional assessment workload to meet the requirements of both Eton University and OTHM assessments. 

​

OTHM assessments can include coursework such as presentations, essays, reports and case studies. All the work submitted is assessed internally by Eton University and externally by OTHM.

Students will study this program through our Hybrid Learning model.

​

This virtual study mode allows flexibility and expert-led teaching to be accessed from anywhere. Students only need their laptop and a stable internet connection. Sessions are recorded and available to be rewatched at any time through the learning portal. The learning management system gives students access to course materials and resources relevant to the study programme, such as textbooks, presentations, case studies and guides. If required, additional private tuition hours can be booked.
