This Master’s programme is ideal for educational professionals who are aiming to pursue, or already have some experience in a leadership role. The range of modules gives students the opportunity to examine contemporary leadership and management theory, policies and its application in current education settings.
The capstone project enables students to further their knowledge by independently examining the theory and methods that can be used to solve real-word challenges in various scenarios.
Students are encouraged to contribute to existing methodologies and practices with their own research.
Overall, the coursework is structured to develop students’ ability to think critically and innovatively, to engage with the challenges facing educators and policy makers, and finally, to provide the professional knowledge and skills required to lead in globalized world.
For entry onto the MA in Education Management and Leadership programme, learners must possess:

An honours degree in a related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent
overseas qualification -
Mature learners with teaching/management experience

Learners must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course
English requirements: If a learner is not a national of an English-speaking country, they must provide evidence of English language competency at a standard equivalent to the levels identified below,

For Phase One, a variety of assignments and tasks will be used to support learning and assess the knowledge, such as presentations, essays, reports and case studies. All units within this phase are assessed internally by Eton University and externally by OTHM.
For the capstone project, students are required to choose a specific theme; an area of their interest within an educational context. They will research this topic then write a 12,000 word essay on it. The time expected to complete this stage is 2 quarters, however, flexible options are available.
To obtain Master of Educational Management & Leadership degree candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

A pass in all modules and a successful completion of 180 credits in total

Our MA in Educational Management & Leadership consists of two phases:

Completing the mandatory 6 modules provided by ‘OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership’, earning the total of 120 UK credits

Continuing onto a top-up, Capstone project stage; earning the additional 60 UK/12 US credits.
The MA in Education Management and Leadership consists of a combined total of 180 UK credits (36 US credits), 1800 hours Total Qualification Time(TQT), 27 Guided Learning Hours.
Unit 1: Contemporary Issues in Education; Theory, Policy and Practice
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with a thorough understanding of the link between current educational research and practice by developing understanding of educational theory, policy and practice.
Unit 2: The Management of Educational Change
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of ways in which educational leadership and management can provide support during the process of change, developing leadership in the learners’ own educational context.
Unit 3: Managing Effective Intercultural Communication and Perspectives
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of the importance of managing intercultural communication and perspectives that help to determine educational policy applicable to national and international contexts.
Unit 4: Pedagogy and Practice in Education
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ theoretical and practical grounding in approaches to teaching and learning, related to subject pedagogic knowledge and pedagogic practices.
Unit 5: Leading Reflective Practice in Education
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of reflective practice in order to apply this to their and other’s roles in an educational context, leading planning for personal development.
Unit 6: Research Methods in Education
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ research skills to include understanding different research approaches, formulation of research proposals, planning research activity, analysing and interpreting data, and the relationship between research and evidence based practice.
Capstone Project
Drawing on the knowledge and skills gained during the programme, students create a research project that enables them to further their educational experience. By independently examining the theories and methods traditionally used to tackle real-life situations , policies and management issues, and by communicating logically and formulating meaningful claims, students are asked to challenge the existing ideas and propose new solutions. The project’s aim is to contribute both to the students’ professional development as well as to the advancement of the education field.

Course Materials
Students will study this program through our Hybrid Learning model.
This virtual study mode allows flexibility and expert-led teaching to be accessed from anywhere. Students only need their laptop and a stable internet connection. Each module contains 4 one-to-one or small group sessions with the tutor. Sessions are recorded and available to be rewatched at any time through the learning portal. The learning management system gives students access to course materials and resources relevant to the study programme, such as textbooks, presentations, case studies and guides. If required, additional private tuition hours can be booked.
